Glass has been used as a flooring material for more than a century. Glazed floor systems that function as a code-approved fire barrier between building levels, however, are new by comparison.

Due to manufacturing advances, design professionals can specify fire-rated glass floor systems in a range of horizontal applications typically reserved for opaque fire- and heat-blocking materials.
