Image courtesy City of Arlington\" width=\"300\" height=\"195\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.constructionspecifier.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/Opener-11-300x195.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.constructionspecifier.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/Opener-11-500x325.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.constructionspecifier.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/Opener-11.jpg 650w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-102932\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">The Arlington city council, Texas, approves an $810-million development project, anchored by the Loews Arlington Hotel and a new convention center.<\/span><br \/><em><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Image courtesy City of Arlington<\/span><\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.arlingtontx.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">City of Arlington<\/a>, Texas, has approved an $810 million expansion of its Entertainment District, which would add a new hotel, convention center, corporate office headquarters, mixed-use residential building, small business coworking and incubator space, and more dining, retail, and entertainment options.<\/p>\n<p>The city council has entered into a public-private partnership with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mlb.com\/rangers\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Texas Rangers<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.loewshotels.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Loews Hotels &amp; Co<\/a>, and the <a href=\"https:\/\/cordish.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Cordish Companies<\/a>, for a 30-year period to facilitate the development project.<\/p>\n<p>The expansion will include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>a $550-million, 888-room Loews Arlington Hotel with 1500 parking spaces that will be connected to a new convention center offering 20,067 m<sup>2<\/sup> (216,000 sf) of meeting and outdoor function space;<\/li>\n<li>a mixed-use residential building with 280 units and 9290 m<sup>2<\/sup> (100,000 sf) of retail, entertainment, and coworking and incubator space;<\/li>\n<li>a planned 18,581-m<sup>2<\/sup> (200,000-sf) corporate office headquarters; and<\/li>\n<li>an additional public garage with 1900 parking spaces.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This is the next phase of a $4 billion expansion plan.
