They also provide cost-effective options that can be implemented immediately and suggest design alternatives for creating more flexible spaces, enhancing social connectedness, and reinforcing healthy behaviors. Common hazards and considerations for employers are also provided.<\/p>\n<p>Mitigation strategies were developed by a team of architects, public health experts, engineers, and facility managers as part of the AIA\u2019s \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.aia.org\/resources\/6299247-reopening-america-strategies-for-safer-bui?editing=true&amp;tools=true\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Reopening America: Strategies for Safer Buildings<\/a>\u201d initiative. The team is developing strategies for buildings to reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission, promote social distancing standards, and enhance well-being.<\/p>\n<p>Outcomes from the team were also used to develop three tools for protecting the health and safety of the public while providing services.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tool #1<br \/>\n<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.aia.org\/resources\/6299432-risk-management-plan-for-buildings?editing=true&amp;tools=true\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Risk Management Plan for Buildings<\/a>: Provides a comprehensive process for assessing hazards in buildings and reducing risk. The methodology can be applied during the pandemic and for all shocks and stresses to create more resilient buildings and businesses.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tool #2<br \/>\n<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.aia.org\/resources\/6292441-re-occupancy-assessment-tool\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">AIA Re-occupancy Assessment Tool (2.0)<\/a>: Provides an enhanced framework of strategies for reopening or making buildings safer, including housing, offices, restaurants, retailers, senior living facilities, and schools.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tool #3<br \/>\n<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/network.aia.org\/communities\/community-home?CommunityKey=b3add4bc-0bdf-4492-b3ad-6212b96a84b0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">COVID-19 ArchMap<\/a>: Architects can <a href=\"https:\/\/form.jotform.com\/AIACES\/covid19\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">input design strategies that mitigate risk of COVID-19<\/a>\u00a0for any building type to AIA\u2019s map.
