MuCEM, which houses the first French national museum outside of Paris, is located on the banks of a 2600-year-old harbor. Blending with the surrounding mineral and stone landscape, its structure presents a veiled, cubic appearance. It also won first place in the low-rise category.<\/p>\n<p>First-place winners from the remaining categories were chosen based on architectural and engineering merit, creativity, innovative construction, techniques or solutions, innovative use of materials, ingenuity, sustainability and resilience, and functionality.
