The Louisiana State Museum and Sports Hall of Fame project in Natchitoches, New Orleans, will be featured on the Smithsonian Channel series \u201cHow Did They Build That?\u201d for its unique architectural design.<\/p>\n

Founder and CEO of project lead, Trahan Architects, Victor F. \u201cTrey\u201d Trahan, III, FAIA, will appear alongside firm partner Brad McWhirter to talk about the work conducted to complete the project, which has won several design awards, including the National AIA Award for Interior Architecture.<\/p>\n

Set on the banks of the Cane River Lake, the museum is inspired by the riverfront setting, early sustainable practices, and spatial equity. Sculpted from more than 1100 unique cast stone panels, the museum\u2019s interior reflects the region\u2019s fluvial geomorphology\u2014the transformation of the landscape from centuries of carving by the meandering river\u2014and seamlessly integrates building systems and serves as a canvas for exhibitions and films.<\/p>\n

Jay Dardenne, former lieutenant governor and current commissioner of administration for the state of Louisiana, says, \u201cThe new building provides both an icon for the state and an important community center for the region. It is a remarkably innovative structure, setting a high standard for public buildings within Louisiana while reflecting the unique characteristics of our distinctive culture and context.\u201d<\/p>\n

Trahan Architects\u2019 feature will appear in season two of \u201cHow Did They Build That?\u201d airing on July 31 at 8 p.m. EST. The show will be available to stream on Paramount+.<\/p>\n
