The design team to oversee the redevelopment of New York Penn Station has been selected. HNTB\u2013HOK Joint Venture, in association with Practice for Architecture and Urbanism (PAU), will drive the architectural, urban design, and engineering vision.<\/p>\n

The redevelopment will boost track capacity, increase operational efficiency, and improve wayfinding amenities. Plans include a new entrance along Eighth Avenue and integration with Madison Square Garden.<\/p>\n

The decision follows the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) and Amtrak naming Penn Transformation Partners\u2014a joint venture of Halmar and Skanska\u2014as the project\u2019s master developer.<\/p>\n

\u201cTransforming Penn Station requires an integrated approach to unite people, systems, and infrastructure,\u201d says Mike Sweeney, HNTB\u2019s eastern U.S. president. \u201cHNTB is proud to partner with HOK to shape the future of one of the most vital transportation hubs in the country.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cPenn Station is a defining public space for New York City and the nation. This transformation represents a rare opportunity to restore a sense of dignity, clarity, and civic presence to one of America\u2019s most important gateways,\u201d says Carl Galioto, HOK\u2019s president.<\/p>\n
