The space reflects the sustainability goals of LEED along with the health-focused targets of WELL, and was inspected by WELL experts for performance related to the categories of air, water, nourishment, light, fitness, comfort, and mind.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt ASID, we take tremendous pride in being a champion for good design and demonstrating that design impacts lives\u2014to be the first space awarded WELL-certified Platinum under WELL v1 and LEED Platinum is an incredible honor,\u201d said Randy W. Fiser, the organization\u2019s CEO. \u201cWe began this project with a clear goal of showcasing the many ways design can positively affect the health and well-being of employees while boosting resource efficiency. At ASID, we believe in research-based results in design and placed an emphasis on third-party validation of the space.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>To fulfill the standards of both certification programs, the 789-m<sup>2<\/sup> (8500-sf) office incorporates features addressing their various areas of focus. These include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>natural or biophilic elements that reduce stress and improve indoor air quality (IAQ);<\/li>\n<li>sound masking systems to ensure less disruptive acoustics;<\/li>\n<li>high standards for water quality;<\/li>\n<li>lighting regulated in response to circadian rhythms (to enhance employee productivity);<\/li>\n<li>sit\/stand desks; and<\/li>\n<li>provision of employee health features, such as fresh produce and a wellness room.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<figure id=\"attachment_43417\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-43417\" style=\"width: 242px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.constructionspecifier.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/ASID-HQ-DC-2016-64.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-43417\" src=\"https:\/\/www.constructionspecifier.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/ASID-HQ-DC-2016-64-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"242\" height=\"181\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.constructionspecifier.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/ASID-HQ-DC-2016-64-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.constructionspecifier.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/ASID-HQ-DC-2016-64-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.constructionspecifier.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/ASID-HQ-DC-2016-64-500x375.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.constructionspecifier.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/ASID-HQ-DC-2016-64.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 242px) 100vw, 242px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-43417\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">The office features elements such as sound masking, circadian lighting, and a wellness room for employees.<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Research done both pre- and post-occupancy supports the positive impact of these features, with improvements being observed in lighting, acoustics, and levels of carbon dioxide (CO<sub>2<\/sub>) within the space. Similarly, Cornell University found employee response to the new space was largely positive, with improvements noted in the following metrics:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>satisfaction with indoor environmental quality;<\/li>\n<li>job satisfaction;<\/li>\n<li>perceived support from the organization; and<\/li>\n<li>perceived productivity for the organization.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u201cBecoming WELL- and
