This agreement also endeavors to align the LEED program with the new code to ensure a streamlined, effective set of regulatory and above-code options for jurisdictions across the country.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cArchitects have become the leaders in employing green building techniques, and the <em>IgCC<\/em>, a valuable regulatory tool, provides support leading to the creation of a sustainable, resilient built environment,\u201d said AIA\u2019s CEO Robert Ivy. \u201cThis agreement, which underscores the AIA\u2019s dedication to sustainable design and construction, should lead to more rapid adoption of responsible approaches by designers, builders, developers, and a host of other building industry groups.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Brendan Owens, USGBC\u2019s vice president of LEED agreed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis landmark agreement will leverage the unique strengths of each of the five partner organizations to deliver a coordinated, integrated suite of green building tools: an ANSI standard as the basis of a regulatory code to push the market and a rating system to pull the market higher,\u201d he said. \u201cWe are collectively dedicated to advancing green building practices and to advancing the broader industry\u2019s understanding about the importance of green building goals and how to achieve them.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Major design\/construction associations and organizations are collaborating on the development of the Standard for the Design of High-performance Green Buildings, the International Green Construction Code (IgCC), and the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) green building program.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":5114,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[1029],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-5112","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-news","entry"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v28.8 -
