The Cement Council of Texas<\/a> (CCT) in conjunction with nonprofit organization International Grooving and Grinding Association<\/a> (IGGA) named the employees of the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT)\u2013Houston District<\/a> the recipients of this year\u2019s Government Official of the Year Award, honoring individuals and organizations for contributions made to the grooving, grinding, and concrete pavement restoration industry.<\/p>\n

The winners of the national award were praised for their efforts in advancing the understanding and use of quiet concrete pavement surface textures utilizing the Next Generation Concrete Surface (NGCS) in Texas. The city of Houston has incorporated approximately 2.5 million m2<\/sup> (26.9 million sf) of the noise-reducing material into several major highway systems, says IGGA.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis award is an acknowledgment of the Houston District of the Texas Department of Transportation\u2019s ability to recognize the needs of the homeowners in the area and take positive, decisive steps to make their lives better,\u201d said John Roberts, executive director of IGGA. \u201cTheir willingness to innovate and adopt new technologies to meet these needs sets this group apart and makes them a model for other public agencies to emulate.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
