Simpson Gumpertz & Heger received a Gold Engineering Excellence Award from the American Council of Engineering Companies of Massachusetts for its design of the John W. Olver Design Building. <\/span>

National engineering firm Simpson Gumpertz & Heger<\/a> (SGH) received a 2018 Gold Engineering Excellence Award from the American Council of Engineering Companies of Massachusetts (ACEC\/MA) for its work on the University of Massachusetts John W. Olver Design Building on the Amherst campus.<\/p>\n

Headquartered in Waltham, Massachusetts, SGH was retained by the University of Massachusetts Building Authority to assist in uniting five programs\u2014Architecture, Landscape Architecture and Regional Planning, and Building and Construction Technology\u2014into one facility. The timber-framed structure, which utilized sustainable construction practices, features a composite floor system.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe awards honor this year\u2019s most outstanding engineering accomplishments in Massachusetts,\u201d said Michael J. Scipione, ACEC\/MA president. \u201cThey are excellent examples of how engineers create projects that improve our lives and communities.\u201d<\/p>\n
