The Midfield Satellite Concourse (MSC) North is a five-level, 69,677-m<sup>2<\/sup> (750,000-sf) expansion that will be accessible via a 111-m<sup>2<\/sup> (1200-ft) long tunnel corridor with moving walkways. With 12 new gates, aircraft parking aprons, and taxiways, the new concourse is expected to improve operations, enable faster connections, and ease passenger access.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.corgan.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Corgan<\/a> is the project\u2019s lead architecture firm. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gensler.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Gensler<\/a> and CannonDesign are also working on the design-build project. Turner Construction Company and PCL Construction Services, Inc. are managing it. Atlas Roofing provided the roof and wall insulation assemblies for the project. Construction that started in February 2017 is expected to wrap up in 2020.<\/p>\n<p>The project had to meet the <em>California Green Building Standards Code<\/em> (<em>CALGreen<\/em>) Mandatory and Tier 1 requirements.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe city of Los Angeles, unlike any other jurisdiction that I have worked with, has a very aggressive approach to sustainability,\u201d said Jennifer Wehling, sustainability specialist at Corgan. \u201cWhen it became clear the Tier 1 thermal insulation prerequisite was seemingly unattainable, the project team worked with the city of LA, the Building Standards Committee, as well as a number of industry experts in the matter to find a solution.
