The revised renovation plans will reinforce a preservation-driven rehabilitation of the tower.<\/p>\n<p>In July, 550 Madison was designated as an <a href=\"https:\/\/www1.nyc.gov\/site\/lpc\/about\/landmark-designation.page\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">individual landmark<\/a> by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www1.nyc.gov\/site\/lpc\/index.page\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NYC Landmarks Preservation Commission<\/a> (LPC). The ownership team, <a href=\"https:\/\/olayan.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Olayan Group<\/a> with development partners <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rxrrealty.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">RXR Realty<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.chelsfield.com\/en\/home\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Chelsfield<\/a>, have worked with architect <a href=\"https:\/\/snohetta.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sn\u00f8hetta<\/a> to preserve the iconic high-rise while providing modern upgrades and revitalizing the surrounding public space.<\/p>\n<p>Sn\u00f8hetta\u2019s design updates will retain the tower\u2019s distinguished architectural features and undo past renovations that compromised the original design intent. The tower\u2019s exterior will remain 94 percent unchanged.
