It will provide an international framework allowing the industry to work together across projects and national borders.<\/p>\n<p>J\u00f8ns Sj\u00f8gren, chair of the ISO technical subcommittee that developed the standards, said they will enable more widespread use of BIM, and thus, more efficient building and infrastructure projects.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cISO\u00a019650 was developed on the basis of the tried-and-tested British standard BS\u00a01192 [<em>Collaborative production of architectural, engineering and construction information<\/em>] and publicly available specification PAS\u00a01192-2 [<em>Specification for security-minded building information modelling, digital built environments and smart asset management<\/em>], which have already been shown to help users save up to 22\u00a0percent in construction costs,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTaking this to an international level not only means more effective collaboration on global projects, but [also] allows designers and contractors working on all kinds of building works to have clearer and more efficient information management.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Future standards in the series include a Part\u00a03 on managing the operational phase of assets and a Part 5 dedicated to security-minded BIM, digital built environments, and smart asset management.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A new set of standards released by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) provide a framework for managing information through collaborative working using building information modelling (BIM).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":13542,"featured_media":79518,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[1029],"tags":[5215,5214,4394],"class_list":["post-79462","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-news","tag-building-information-modelling","tag-international-organization-for-standardization","tag-tools-software","entry"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v28.8 -
