The American Institute of Steel Construction<\/a> (AISC) released a draft of its seismic report for public review on its website.<\/p>\n

Seismic Provisions for Structural Steel Buildings<\/em> is a companion to the Specification for Structural Steel Buildings,<\/em> extending coverage to connection detailing and member design requirements for structural steel and composite systems in locations where there may be earthquake threats.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis public review draft incorporates the latest developments in seismic design, thanks to the efforts of our volunteer committee members, including fabricators, consulting engineers, and educators,\u201d said Charles Carter, AISC vice-president and chief structural engineer. \u201cThis document will be released in 2016, and will ultimately replace the 2010 version of this standard. The 2016 AISC Seismic Provisions<\/em> provides moment-frame, braced-frame, and shear-wall systems that will make any architectural vision in a high-seismic region possible and practical.\u201d<\/p>\n
