The Hyatt Centric Portland has topped off in downtown Portland, Oregon. The 11,919-m2 <\/sup>(128,299-sf), full-service lifestyle hotel offers guests a connection to the city\u2019s core.<\/p>\n

Sera Architects<\/a> is the design team working on the project alongside developer and design-builder Mortenson<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The 15-story boutique lifestyle hotel will offer 220 guest rooms, approximately 279 m2<\/sup> (3000 sf) of meeting space, and a destination restaurant and bar. The lobby will be reflective of Portland with multimedia art displays.<\/p>\n

According to Sera Architects\u2019 website, the hotel is focused on place-based design highlighting Portland\u2019s deep craftsman history and its interaction with the landscape. The exterior embraces this concept by creating a woven series of moves between the vertical and horizontal components of the building, inspired by the historic basket weaving techniques of the Tanner Springs neighborhood. This weaving, combined with the distinct geomorphic fa\u00e7ade\u2014which mimics the basalt colonnades of the surrounding area\u2014emulates an urban forest, playing with the changing daylight to create a unique experience throughout the day.<\/p>\n
