The National Council of Architectural Registration Boards<\/a> (NCARB) says more than 37,000 candidates are seeking architectural licenses.<\/p>\n

Its new report, \u201cNCARB by the Numbers,\u201d reported a record-high number of 37,178 aspiring architects submitted experience hours through the Intern Development Program (IDP) or were actively testing for the Architecture Registration Examination (ARE) in 2014. (The group is currently trying to change the word \u201cintern<\/a>\u201d from being used to describe those working towards architecture licensure.)<\/p>\n

\u201cThe architecture profession is healthy and growing,\u201d said Michael Armstrong, the council\u2019s CEO. \u201cThe report findings also help validate NCARB and its work with licensing boards to open doors of opportunity for qualified people in the architecture profession without sacrificing the rigor needed to ensure public health, safety, and welfare.\u201d<\/p>\n

The U.S. licensing boards reported there are 107,581 licensed architects, making 2014 the third consecutive year of increased growth in the profession. Other statistics from last year include:<\/p>\n
