It will be set up similarly to the group\u2019s convention and trade show (pictured). <span style=\"font-size: 8pt;\">Photo courtesy RCI<\/span><\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>RCI has gathered top roofing, waterproofing, and wall designers to speak at its <a title=\"http:\/\/www.rci-online.org\/symposium.html\" href=\"http:\/\/www.rci-online.org\/symposium.html\" target=\"_blank\">2015 Building Envelope Technology Symposium<\/a> in November.<\/p>\n<p>More than 300 construction professionals are expected to attend the two-day event in Nashville, Tennessee. It will feature 12 educational sessions where most of the programs will focus on repair and\/or sustainable design methods for improving existing structures.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe symposium is an important opportunity for building envelope specifiers to learn and discuss solutions for common building design issues,\u201d said William Myers, RCI\u2019s marketing director. \u201cMany attendees attend this program year after year. The peer-reviewed presentations are chosen to be current and relevant to the latest concerns, codes, and trends.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The speakers will offer experience-based insight for specification of durable exterior envelopes. A few of the speakers and their topics include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u201cToo Hot to Keep Your Cool\u201d by Timothy Mills of TAM Consultants;<\/li>\n<li>\u201cCurtain Wall Sunshade Challenges\u201d by Mark Schmidt and Osana Toma of Wiss, Janny, Elstner Associates (WJE);<\/li>\n<li>\u201cConventional and Nonconventional Repair of Curtain Wall Systems\u201d by Kamran Farahmandpour of Building Technology Consultants;<\/li>\n<li>\u201cStarting Over: Reskinning Deteriorated Masonry Walls in Occupied Condominium Towers\u201d by Reid Johnson and Sarah Gray of Halsall Associates; and<\/li>\n<li>\u201cDrones: A New Tool\u201d by William Waterston of WJE.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u201cFor architects, specifiers, and building owners, a better understanding of building envelope systems can mitigate risk and provide insight into creating better, more effective building envelopes,\u201d said Amy Peevey, the symposium\u2019s committee chairperson. \u201cAttendance at the symposium not only provides an opportunity for learning, but also networking with experts and manufacturers who are great resources within the building envelope industry.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Attendees can earn up to 12 continuing education credits from both RCI and the American Institute of Architects (AIA).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>RCI has gathered top roofing, waterproofing, and wall designers to speak at its 2015 Building Envelope Technology Symposium in November.
