Designs have been revealed for the Houston Botanic Garden in Texas.<\/span>

Overland Partners<\/a>, an architecture firm based in San Antonio, Texas, has revealed the designs for the new Welcome Pavilion at the Houston Botanic Garden<\/a>\u200b\u200b. The pavilion aims to inspire the public\u2019s understanding and connection with the natural environment.<\/p>\n

The 217-m2<\/sup> (2334-sf) building will feature a caf\u00e9, gift shop, ticketing center, storage, and restrooms. The building\u2019s fa\u00e7ade, or \u2018Welcome Wall,\u2019 is made of coral limestone in differing patterns that feature a botanical motif.<\/p>\n

West 8<\/a>\u200b, a New York-based landscape architecture firm, created the overall master plan and designed the Phase I experiences for the botanic garden, while Overland Partners focused on the Welcome Pavilion.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs Houston\u2019s newest cultural institution, creating a strong first impression for our guests is very important,\u201d said Claudia Gee Vassar, the garden\u2019s president. \u201cThe Pavilion\u2019s gorgeous Welcome Wall will draw visitors into our beautiful urban oasis. In addition, the Pavilion\u2019s central location, climate-controlled interior, and generous overhead canopy outside will make it a natural meeting place for visitors to gather and share their garden experiences.\u201d<\/p>\n
