Parking garages: Enhancing durability with migrating corrosion inhibitors

Corrosion threatens the durability and serviceability of reinforced concrete or precast parking garages. Many strategies for corrosion mitigation exist, but are often limited by application constraints. Mitigating corrosion inhibitor technology provides practical and effective methods to delay corrosion initiation and also to reduce existing corrosion rates, and can be used to enhance the durability of parking garages.

She was confused as to why tuna would be called “chicken of the sea.” Similarly, designations can be puzzling for many of the building products on the market today, especially paints and coatings. A privately owned helicopter hangar in rural Purcellville, Virginia, won its contractor Fuog/InterBuild the 2017 Building of the Year award from the National Frame Building Association. The post-fame, barn-style hangar features a hydraulic, one-piece designer door, complete with fiber cement exterior cladding.

Who pays for defective work?

The question of who pays the cost of remedying defective work is easy to answer when the basis of compensation to the contractor or design-builder is a stipulated price; however, it’s less clear when the method of compensation is cost-plus-a-fee. Should the contractor or design-builder be paid by the owner for remedying defective work when compensation is on the basis of cost-plus, and the amount paid out by the owner to-date is less than the guaranteed maximum price?
