Getting it right: Wood flooring over a concrete subfloor |
|
The visual appeal of a wood floor is hard to match. Most people experience a certain joy when entering a building where wood has been used generously. They may not be able to put their finger on exactly why they react favorably to wood—it may be the touch of elegance or the warm glow they sense, but whatever it is, the positive impression is indisputable. |

Fire resistance and prevention in wood buildings |
|
It may seem counterintuitive to study the fire resistance of a combustible material, but wood construction has been the focus of such research for decades. The desire to harness the benefits of wood buildings, while still maintaining a safe environment, has fueled studies into both light-frame wood and mass timber assemblies. RELATIONSHIPS QUESTION |
Can anyone offer specific guidance about an independent rep establishing a relationship with a manufacturer? I am trying to evaluate an opportunity and would like insight from the CSI community as help. I have been approached by a manufacturer whose product I think is complimentary to what I do. We see an opportunity in each other, but do not see quite eye to eye on how it should work. What is the typical arrangement besides commission percentage, and how does it vary? What is considered good, fair, and poor as a deal? How much support should you expect? |
