Corrosion resistance and environmental considerations for architectural metal coatings |
|
Architects, governments, municipalities, and environmental organizations are demanding the elimination of materials on the Living Building Challenge’s Red List, such as chromium and lead, traditionally used as corrosion inhibitors. This strategy, while well intentioned, has the potential to reduce corrosion performance of coated metal building components in hot, humid, salt-laden coastal areas and industrial environments. |

Plumbing with PEX |
|
Crosslinked polyethylene (PEX) tubing is widely employed across plumbing and heating trades in residential applications, but many specifiers have yet to consider its use in commercial plumbing systems. Based on decades of successful installations and growing confidence in the trade, PEX is gaining ground as a high-performance, cost-effective alternative to copper and chlorinated polyvinyl chloride (CPVC) piping on large-scale commercial plumbing projects. With more than 50 years of testing and quantifiable performance in applications all over the world, PEX tubing has proven to be a durable material that does not suffer from corrosion, electrolysis, filming, mineral buildup, or water velocity wear—problems plaguing copper and other metal piping systems.

PATIENT WANDERING SYSTEM |
I’m looking for some help in determining the correct MasterFormat number and title to use when specifying a patient wandering system. I did find some instances on the web of sections addressing patient/resident wandering/elopement roam-alert systems, but the section titles varied, and some section numbers were in Division 27 while others were in Division 28. I appreciate any guidance our members can give me in finding the best MasterFormat number and title to use. |
