Introducing T-SLAB—the latest revolution in precast concrete flooring systems |
Sponsored |
|
Architects, engineers, and contractors are always searching for new, innovative products that can take their projects to the next level, but when it comes to flooring systems, the innovation they have been seeking has been sorely lacking for some time. While the existing slab systems on the market hold a range of benefits in their own right, they also each lack something that another possesses. That means builders and designers are often forced to compromise one key capability for another, such as flexibility for speed.

Substitution Procedures Ignored |
Hey everyone, I wanted to hear the Community's experiences on an issue we've been seeing here from a couple of different GC's. Is this an outlier or has everyone else been experiencing it as well?
To start, the majority of our work is private sector, private funding, commercial development. Our project delivery is generally CMGC, with a GC brought in around late SD, or earlier, with regular budget review and cost development. Some budgeting is done in-house by the GC as part of Pre-Con services, and by mid-to-late DD the GMP is established. We (the Architects) participate through all of the VE process, VE log, etc. with the owner and the GC and make recommendations on the acceptance or rejection of VE line items. The process and relationship between Architect, GC, and Owner is very collaborative.

SCUPPERS FOR ROOFTOP PATIO |
We are replacing a rooftop patio waterproofing system. For the primary drain, we plan to use a two-stage system with a 12-in. perforated extension. Do we need to lower the emergency scuppers down so that the bottom of the scupper is no more than 2 to 4 in. above the roofing membrane, which sits on the structural slab? I ask this as one of the roofers we are talking to is saying he has been forced to do this by AHJs. However, this makes no sense. Why would we place a scupper below the pavers? The scuppers are not in the open and can get clogged. What are your thoughts? |
