3D modeling used to create complex IMP feature on Maryland college |
|
Prince George’s Community College in Largo, Maryland, is serving up culinary arts classes in a 1979-m2 (21,300-sf) building designed by Grimm+Parker Architects. A signature element of the building is a high canopy over the building’s main entrance, which is a large glass atrium. The canopy is created out of insulated metal panels (IMP). It presented a challenge for the IMP manufacturer, as it not only is a sweeping curve, but also has sloped soffits.

Iowa science center uses coated metal to match the look of brick |
|
The DeWitt Family Science Center, Orange City, Iowa, is an eco-friendly and state-of-the-art facility on the Northwestern College campus. It serves the health science programs including biology, chemistry, and a nursing department that was previously housed in a nearby hospital. Coated metal was selected for the building exterior to match Northwestern’s brick-tone buildings and add a modern touch while setting the tone for the future. |
