The building is constructed with flood-resistant materials like masonry. They can be maintained to provide an attractive look before a flood event, and can also be easily restored to their original condition at minimal cost.

Located at the nexus of Temple University’s main campus in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the 20,439-m2 (220,000 sf) Charles Library serves as a central point of intersection between students, faculty, staff, and the surrounding community. To impart a warm, inviting, natural look, the design team chose custom wood panelized linear ceiling and wall systems. |

Recently, I attended a six-hour in-person continuing education class for my state’s construction supervisors license renewal. Here are some interesting takeaways from the experience. Given the past nine months of shutdowns, endless webinars, and virtual meetings/conferences, it was refreshing to be at a location outside of my home or office with other people. With proper safety measures in place such as masks, physically distanced learning spaces, and a limited group size, I felt comfortable learning in this environment.
