Moisture in mass masonry walls |
Failures |
|
The exterior walls of structures built in the late 19th and early 20th centuries are usually constructed of multi-wythe solid loadbearing brick masonry. When considering the management of moisture in the building enclosure, this type of solid masonry wall construction is often called a mass wall. A mass masonry wall resists moisture penetration by shedding bulk water at the surface and by absorbing, storing, and later releasing moisture.

Specifying the right resinous flooring system |
|
Selection of flooring materials often starts with the preferred visual appeal based on the needs of the architect, interior designer, or owner. CONTRACTOR'S OVERHEAD RATES |
I've never heard of anyone attempting to negotiate different overhead rates before. Contractors' field office overhead costs are typically fixed on an annual basis and audited that way. Contractors do not establish different overhead rates for different parts of a given project, with the exception of design phase services by a design-builder or construction manager at risk (CMAR), which are billed in the same manner as a consulting engineer's or architect's services. Has anyone ever heard of an owner attempting to stipulate different overhead rates for a construction project?
