Construction has topped out on Peoria, Arizona’s new, 4564 m2 (49,128 sf) rehab hospital. This marks the official midpoint of the construction process and is a key milestone for the project by Adolfson & Peterson Construction Group (AP), Reunion Rehabilitation Hospitals (RRH), and America Development & Investments LLC.

Stucco metrics: The mighty stucco casing bead |
A portland cement-based plaster (stucco) wall cladding system inherently includes its perimeter edges—where the stucco simultaneously begins, ends, and interfaces with other claddings, structural elements, penetrations, and dissimilar materials.

HARD DATA ON THE COST OF SPECIFICATION ERRORS |
I’m working to put together a presentation to share with architects about the dangers of failing to take sufficient care in preparation of specification. I’d like to present some data and/or specific examples, but I’m having a hard time tracking down such data. Does anyone have specific examples they could share of costly errors which resulted from things like lack of coordination, failure to understand how to prepare or use Division 00 sections, or any other failures to understand how to prepare specifications—or does anyone know a source that might be helpful?

BACK TO THE BASICS - SPECIFICATION REVISION NOTATION |
I’d like to survey the community to see how you are notating specification changes (revisions, addendums, change directives, etc.) you provide following original issue of the contract documents—and in particular the project manual. Knowing we all use different tools and software platforms, I’m curious as to what other firms are doing. Do you strikethrough removed text and underline new additions? Do you cloud and/or delta the changes on each sheet? What has become the industry “standard” for specifications to convey this change to the field?
