Using exterior-grade waterproofing in interior applications |
The use of exterior-grade waterproofing within interior space has fire- and life-safety code implications that require analysis. If the exterior-grade waterproofing is noncombustible, the fire- and life-safety code analysis is easy. However, if it is combustible, the analysis is more complex and code requirements often constrain the waterproofing design.

Bridging form and function with modern rainscreens |
From a cladding perspective, a rainscreen assembly is a practical way to achieve a high-performing building envelope. The popularity of wood-plastic composites (WPCs) in envelopes has increased substantially year over year and, in some cases, has become the cladding of choice for architects thanks to the material’s performance characteristics.

SEPARATE PRIME CONTRACTS QUESTION |
I am currently assisting a project owner with developing Division 00 construction documents for a design-bid-build project. The owner is a public entity (municipality) on one of those few states that still requires separate prime contracts for public construction. The unique thing here is the project’s only electrical work is temporary electric power during construction. The project is of such a nature the temporary electric power needs are significant (5 kV service needed just for construction). However, the project does not involve any permanent electrical work. Given all of this, is a separate electrical prime contract necessary here?
