Specifying and installing flashing around exterior wall openings
Specifying and installing flashing around exterior wall openings
A weathertight building enclosure is critical when it comes to preventing air leakage and water penetration. It also significantly impacts energy efficiency, indoor air quality (IAQ), and occupant comfort. Therefore, properly specifying and detailing the transitions between fenestration products and the surrounding wall conditions is extremely important.

Building for the future with insulated metal panels
Building for the future with insulated metal panels
Designing with IMPs gives project owners, architects, and contractors a competitive edge in today’s design-build market. Thanks to state-of-the-art technology, continuous panels outperform conventional construction systems in their efficiency and longevity, while contributing to the construction of eco-friendly architecture.

AAMA 502-12 Robust Update Requirements
AAMA 502-12 was updated to AAMA 502-21, and the grace period is over. AAMA 502-21 is a mandatory change that is more robust than the previous protocols. You should consider updating. If easier, you can have the architect contact me.

Air Barrier Requirements/ Building Envelope Testing
I’m working on some research related to air barrier requirements for energy code compliance and Building Envelope Testing (BET). Is there anything in MasterSpec/SpecLink that addresses the testing of the building thermal envelope to ASTM E779, ASTM E3158, ASTM E1827, or ANSI/RESNET/ICC 380? What Section(s) would normally contain those requirements?
