Five 3D models are on display at the Chicago Architecture Center. The teams were asked to design a cutting-edge terminal, while reflecting the legacy of Chicago’s innovation, architecture, and diversity. This is the first time the City of Chicago has involved public feedback in a design competition at its airports. At 209,032 m2 (2.25 million sf), the new terminal will be among one of the largest in the United States.
The five finalists are:
- Fentress-EXP-Brook-Garza Joint Venture Partners;
- Foster Epstein Moreno Joint Venture Partners;
- Studio ORD Joint Venture Partners;
- Skidmore, Owings, & Merrill (SOM); and
- Santiago Calatrava, LLC.
