The Princeton University Art Museum’s new 13,564-m2 (146,000-sf) building will open to the public on October 31, 2025.

Designed by Adjaye Associates, in collaboration with Cooper Robertson, the new facility effectively doubles the institution’s spaces for display, learning, gathering, and visitor amenities.

Sitting at the heart of Princeton University’s historic campus, the three-level building is designed to create new ways of encountering artworks and facilitate cultural exchange.

The museum is shaped around nine interlocking pavilions, with ground-floor entrances on all sides, and two interior “art walks” that encourage those traversing the campus to pass through the museum.

The building devotes 7,432 m2 (80,000 sf) to gallery display, most of which is on a single level. More than 1,115 m2 (12,000 sf) of interior space is dedicated to education and gathering areas, and the design also incorporates state-of-the-art conservation studios, a full-service restaurant, and multiple outdoor areas.
