CarbonCure Technologies, a Canadian cleantech company that develops carbon dioxide (CO2) removal (CDR) solutions for the concrete industry, has gotten an investment by leading technology and property developers.
Tech giant Amazon has secured naming rights to the new home of Seattle’s to-be-named National Hockey League (NHL) team and Women’s National Basketball Association’s (WNBA’s) Seattle Storm, and is calling it Climate Pledge Arena. The name refers to The Climate Pledge, launched in 2019 by Amazon and Global Optimism, which calls on signatories to be net-zero carbon across their businesses by 2040—a decade ahead of the Paris Agreement.
When development firm Vulcan Real Estate asked world-renowned artist Spencer Finch to design an architectural canopy to connect the two office buildings at the center of Amazon’s campus in Seattle, his first course of action was a walk in the woods.
Amazon’s second headquarters in Arlington, Virginia, HQ2 is going into the first phase of construction. With this new campus, the tech giant seeks to support local businesses, build new public spaces, and integrate sustainable design features.
