Track rail glass products were used at the Kentucky Convention Center (Louisville) to line the grand staircase, large stair landing, ramps, and overlooks, allowing natural light from the updated glass façade to flow through the multiple levels of the facility.
Among carpentry specialists in commercial construction, the distinction between casework and millwork resides in the custom-made nature of the latter. Although one would not say casework amounts to ‘making boxes,’ it is nevertheless the case that some recent innovative millwork projects have amplified the distinction between assembly line carpentry fixtures and custom-made ones. This article highlights two such projects.
Constructed in 1899, the historic Fayette County Courthouse was once the shining jewel of Lexington, Kentucky, but over the years, it became old and rundown. With the help of fire-rated glass floor systems the courthouse was restored and is once again the centerpiece of the town.
