The Education Foundation of the Architectural Woodwork Institute (AWIEF) recently awarded $80,000 in scholarships to support students for careers in the architectural woodwork industry.

“As part of a record-setting year, the AWIEF Board of Trustees awarded $80,000 in scholarships to 24 recipients, with an average award of $3,300, ranging to a top award of $5,000,” says AWI CEO Doug Hague.

Recipients included seven freshmen from secondary schools and 17 from post-secondary schools, including five female students. The funds benefited students from 12 schools overall.

The scholarship funds may be used to cover expenses incurred for the 2026 academic year or the 2027 school year.

AWIEF says it has distributed more than $481,800 in scholarships since its establishment in 2008. The goal is to help ensure the architectural woodwork industry has a skilled workforce, according to foundation officials.

Applications for the 2027 AWIEF scholarships will open on November 1, 2026, and extend through January 31, 2027.
