One of the challenges faced by the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital and the Pearl Tourville Women’s Pavilion (Charleston, South Carolina) project team was the location. Barely 3 m (11 ft) above sea level, the site regularly experienced tidal flooding.
