The ceiling of the new dining commons at Mt. Holyoke College, South Hadley, Massachusetts, designed by Bergmeyer, blends mineral fiber panels with several styles of thermoformed panels ranging from shallow to deep coffers. A high sound attenuation average (SAA) was required to control noise levels in the busy facility. Thermoformed panels could be used over food preparation areas because their impervious, washable surface meets health department requirements.
