The American Institute of Architects (AIA) has honored James McCullar, FAIA, with its 2019 Thomas Jefferson Award for Public Architecture. This award recognizes architects, public officials, or other individuals who design distinguished public facilities and advocate for design excellence.
Eager Park in Baltimore, Maryland, was revitalized to showcase the community’s wellness brand by utilizing sustainable building materials. Designed by Mahan Rykiel and Gensler Architects, the 2.4-ha (6-acre) public space was created in conjunction with a biotech center close to the Johns Hopkins Hospital.
Earlier this month, Toshiko Mori, professor at the Harvard Graduate School of Design (GSD), was the recipient of the 2019 American Institute of Architects (AIA) Topaz Medallion for Excellence in Architectural Education.
