A nine-story patient tower at the Methodist University Hospital (MUH) in Memphis, Tennessee, is now complete. The 41,806-m2 (450,000-sf) tower was constructed on top of the already existing emergency department of the hospital.

As part of the hospital’s masterplan to keep the building up-to-date and improve its efficiency, rubber flooring was installed in the intensive care unit (ICU) more than 10 years ago.
Earlier this month, Florida Hospital Tampa, part of the West Florida division of Adventist Health System, broke ground on a six-story, 27,870-m2 (300,000-sf) patient and surgical tower. The expansion project includes 24 brand new-operating rooms, a new hospital entrance, and more than 100 surgical care beds.
