The benefits of Fabreeka-TIM® structural thermal breaks are:
- owners and consumers benefit from increased energy savings by the introduction of properly designed thermal breaks;
- minimizes condensation concerns;
- improves occupancy comfort;
- help achieve Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification, and aid in meeting
the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) and other energy standards;
- CSI three-part guide specification is available;
- International Code Council-Evaluation Services (ICC-ES) listed in the U.S. and Canada; and
- made in the U.S.
Fabreeka-TIM® can be used as a thermal break solution in both point and linear structural connections. It is a fiberglass reinforced laminate composite specially designed for structural moment connections. It is a loadbearing thermal break that can withstand compressive stresses of up to 274,411 kPa (39,800 psi). The nominal operating temperature range is -6 to 210 C (20 to 250 F). The thermal conductivity is 1.8.
To completely break the heat transmission path, it is important to include thermal washers and bushings. Typical cantilevered beam applications, such as balconies and canopies, use 25-mm (1-in.) thick thermal break with thermal washers and bushings to completely decouple steel-to-steel contact.
