The American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) presented Simpson Gumpertz & Heger (SGH) with two accolades at its national Engineering Excellence Awards. The Massachusetts firm was recognized for the Bahá’í Temple of South America, located in Santiago, Chile, as well as the John W. Olver Design Building at the University of Massachusetts (UMass) Amherst.

Washington builds the way for mass timber construction

The Washington State Legislature has passed a bill requiring the Washington State Building Code Council (SBCC) update its codes to account for mass timber products, including cross-laminated timber (CLT). This revision will make it easier for developers to use the increasingly popular building material by adding certainty to the permitting process.
